Shadowfever - Karen Marie Moning “Some people bring out the worst in you, others bring out the best, and then there are those remarkably rare, addictive ones who just bring out the most. Of everything.”I’m so sad to see Macs story end it has been a fantastic ride. I loved this book!!! KMM gave me some much unexpected plot twists that honestly I didn’t see coming. First we start off exactly where Dreamfever left us on the cliff and wow my heart wrenched. The pain Mac feels and the sorrow was excruciating I felt broken for her. But the story must go forward and she has a plan.“Safety is a fence, and fences are for sheep. I would rather die at twenty-two, knowing the truth, then live in a cage of lies for a hundred years.”All the main players are back and while not everything is resolved I thought that so much of it was that I didn’t care about a few points that weren’t. Mac 5.0 now has had a few realizations since the death of the beast on the cliff. Hindsight always 20/20 and her new plan created some strange bedfellows with odd repercussions. I will say that KMM kept me guessing with who Mac really was I had multiple theories throughout the book and I am happy so say all of them were wrong, I love it when the answer is so creative and well thought out that even though there were clues to the real answer I don’t guess it. Also we learn who killed Alina in this book and why. Even though part of what happened to Alina was like I thought the other part tragically didn’t and bravo again to KMM for twisting my heartstrings. All I can say is that the story was well paced the sexual tension was exquisite between Barrons and Mac and I couldn’t have wanted them to work out any other way. There were surprises around every corner and just when you think you’ve settled in for a smooth ride you are wrong. I could not put this book down for anything else going on in my life much to my husband’s chagrin. The final showdown with the book was amazing and the final twist fantastic thank you KMM.Mac and Barrons have become one of my favorite ships in literature and I love that KMM wrote such an imperfect main character. He is not the hero or antihero waiting to be redeemed. He is solid in who and what he is and makes no apologies for it take him or leave him as he is he is perfectly imperfect and I swoon for him anyway along with Mac. “When you know who I am. Let me be your man.”The Fever world was one I definitely enjoyed and I will say that the final two books in the series are some of the best I’ve read for adults.
